Stone window sills (made of natural stone such as marble, granite, limestone …) are the most common in residential buildings. Also in office buildings, investors increasingly prefer natural stone, primarily granite. The reason for this is its resistance to outdoor impacts, which ranks the stone among “immortal” materials, giving it an advantage over all other construction materials. Why choose stone window sills? The advantage of window sills made of natural stone – in general, granite does not react chemically with water, sunlight and air, leaving no traces of oxidation on the facades. Natural stone also has no internal tension so it does not bend. As always, granite and marble give a special charm to the room, which only natural stone has. .Also, stone window sills are many times cheaper than those made of artificial materials!

How to correctly measure the size of window sill?
It is generally believed that window sills are measured by the installers, who are usually facade makers, painters and builders. Nevertheless, we have prepared a small manual for a better understanding of the process, which, although at first glance seems simple, requires some knowledge and rules of construction.

Interior window sills
The standard thickness of the interior window sills is 2 cm and our basic offer already includes the processing of edges of the window sill (polished, sanded and bevelled edge above and below). We are always open to wishes and suggestions of our customers, so if you have a request for customized processing, please note it in your inquiry.

Exterior window sills
On average, the thickness of the exterior window sills is 3 cm. An extremely important part of the exterior window sills is the drainage slot, which prevents the water from flowing over the wall, façade. Usually, the drainage slot is on the underside of the exterior window sill, but we can also customize an additional slot on the upper side of the window sill. With this, your wall and the façade are additionally protected against water.

How to determine the right length of window sills?
The general advice on measuring the window sills is to do this only after a rough finish of the facade or plaster. When measuring the length of the exterior or interior window sills, you should first measure the gap between the soffits – the window or door aperture from the edge to the edge of the wall. To the measured length, add 3 cm on each side for mounting in the facade, wall or soffit. In case of interior concrete soffits, the window sills can be installed without the additional 3 cm fitting to the wall, since the concrete is harder to carve. By following these tips, you will get the right length of the window sill.

How to determine the right width of the window sill?
Also when measuring the width of the window sill, it is important to do this only after a rough finish of the facade or plaster. When measuring the width of the exterior or interior window sills, it is important to note that the exterior window sills must have a drainage slot for water draining. Therefore, they must stick out over the finished façade or plaster at least 4 cm, while the interior window sill must stick out over the finished plaster at least 3 cm. By following the instructions, you will get the appropriate width of the interior or exterior window sills.
